Travelling with babies
Little babies under eight months old are fabulous flight companions! As they get older, it does get a little more difficult. Luckily, Midwife Cath shares a few of her expert travel tips below.
1. Change nappy before boarding
Try to only change your baby’s nappy during the flight, if you absolutely have to. In-flight bathrooms have great facilities and nappy pants are an awesome option to use on the plane.
2. Feeding on flights
Sit down calmly and start feeding your baby. When taking off or landing, it’s very important that your baby is sucking on a breast or on a bottle because they can get ear pain due to the fluctuation in cabin pressure during that period of time.
3. Travel lightly
Take a change of clothes, wipes and nappies so they’re available when you need it on the plane.
4. Travel times
Try to travel at times that are suitable for your baby. Take into account the feeding and sleeping times your baby is used to – you know your baby best!
5. Ask for help
Don’t forget to ask for help whenever you need it! The staff on board are very helpful and will be there for you when you need it.
We hope these tips help you enjoy your flight, giving you a great start to your holiday!
